If an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer observes work being conducted unsafely or unhealthily, they may issue a stop work order. This order halts all activity immediately and can extend to multiple work sites. The stop work order remains in effect until the stipulated requirements are fulfilled.
Besides issuing Stop Work Orders, an OHS officer is also empowered to halt the use of any equipment deemed unsafe or that poses a serious risk of injury to workers.
Compliance orders are issued by OHS officers when non-compliance issues are observed. These orders mandate action to be taken by a specified date.
OHS directors possess expanded powers beyond those of an OHS officer, including the ability to issue directives that impact the entire organization, such as mandating the creation of a health and safety program.
When work is halted by an OHS order, it is crucial to resolve the order promptly and permanently. This may involve altering equipment, providing training, or developing policies or programs. Our team will evaluate the situation and fulfill all necessary requirements to ensure work can continue safely and without delay, safeguarding both your employees and your financial interests.
